KELLY INVITES CAPITOL FAX’S RICH MILLER TO A BEER SUMMIT

GOP Candidate William Kelly Says Summit Offers a “Teaching Moment”

Statement by William J. Kelly, Candidate for Illinois Comptroller

Today, Illinois Comptroller Candidate William J. Kelly is inviting Sun-Times columnist and Capitol Fax blogger Rich Miller to a beer summit to discuss their differences and the issues.

“Rich, President Obama has showed us that sitting down with a beer to discuss your philosophical difference is a way towards healing. The time for partisanship has long passed. It’s time for us to really do something for the people of Illinois, the people who have suffered long enough. I’m asking you – I’m inviting you for a beer summit here at the Dank Haus.”

“I know you didn’t exactly like my video interview of U.S. Senate candidate Alexi Giannoulias on his ACORN-tainted SEIU endorsement, but this discussion could offer us and others a teaching moment. It’s time to move past our differences,” says Kelly.

William J. Kelly is running on a reform platform to be Illinois’ first “Activist” Comptroller, pledging full transparency and a new era of state government that has been plagued by corruption, abusive spending practices, and the glare of national scrutiny.

Cited by the Washington Times as a new breed of conservative media entity, William J. Kelly was previously the Executive Director of the National Taxpayers Union of Illinois. He ran against Rep. Bobby Rush (D) in 1994 and exposed the Congressman’s $50,000 in back taxes, child support, and unpaid parking tickets. Kelly is the host and executive producer of the TV series, “Sportsaholic” and the Emmy award-winning “Upscale TV,” which just completed a successful three-year run on FOX.
